Course Description:

Reawaken your love for the outdoors! Join a group of like-minded women on a 11+ mile hike in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness on the Ingalls Creek Trail. This valley route leads through an unbelievably beautiful country, where you'll learn backpacking basics during the three days. Treat yourself to a fun and challenging experience, and return home feeling invigorated. We'll assist you with gear, food planning and teach you all the basic skills and knowledge you need to become a life long backpacker. This non-competitive, fun focused group is a wonderful way to give backpacking a try.

Lopez Island Bike Trip

Location: Lopez Island, San Juans

Dates: August 14-16, 2009

Course Description:

Tour the small, majestic island on two wheels while visiting a local vineyard, viewing ocean scenery and enjoying the charm of island life. We'll spend the days biking parts of the island, and enjoying the serenity of the seaside. Our group will camp at Spencer Spit State Park and eat delicious, fresh meals accompanied with friends by the fireside. Lopez Island is well known as one of the easier islands to bike - we'll cover about 20 miles in two days.

50s and Fabulous! Moderate Backpacking Weekend

Location: Marmot Pass Trail, Olympic National Forest

Dates: August 22 - 24, 2008

Number of Days: Three days, two nights

Course Description:

A backpacking trip for women with some previous backpacking experience who are in their fifties. We're going to take a weekend away to celebrate the fabulousness of being in your fifties and have a whole lot of fun! The Marmot Pass trail is about 10 miles round trip. The hike starts in open woods along the Big Quilcene River through paths of wildflowers galore. Moderate elevation gain (3,500 ft) takes us to panoramic views of snow capped rocky peaks at Marmot Pass. A day hike will take us to the top of Buckhorn Mountain for more fantastic views. Join us on this grand adventure - where challenging yourself, exploring new heights and sharing your fabulousness with others becomes an inspiration for loving who you are.

Day Hike: Gobblers Knob Trail to Fire Tower

Location: Mt Rainier

Dates: July 26, 2008

Number of Days: One Day

Course Description:

This day hike will go up the Gobblers Knob trail on Mt Rainier and pause for lunch at the fire lookout tower. The views are incredible at 5,500 feet : panoramic views of Mount St. Helens, the Goat Rocks, the North Cascades, the Olympics, Mount Hood, and Mount Rainier (Let's hope for a clear day!) The trail is 8 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1,400 feet.

We'll hike in a beautiful valley of the Southern Cascades, do short reflective writing exercises and make new friends. The course is for the woman seeking to pamper herself and have a peaceful weekend away.

Beginner Snowshoeing

Location: Crystal Mountain, Mt Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest

Dates: February 15 -17th 2008

Number of Days: Three days, two nights

Course Description:

Bring your best friend snowshoeing for the weekend! We'll spend our nights in a condo at Crystal Mountain Ski Area and the days exploring the trails on snowshoes. No snowshoeing experience necessary. Friday night we'll enjoy a wonderful dinner and get prepared for Saturday's adventure. After breakfast Saturday we'll start off slow on White River trail with an easy walk for your first time on the snow. Sunday we'll hike 4.5 miles to Bullion Basin from the cabin.

Cabin & Snowshoeing Retreat

Course Description:

Revive yourself with a fun weekend retreat with the ladies. We'll spend the weekend at a cabin where we will have a comfortable place to sleep, eat home cooked meals and have the comforts of home! We'll spend the days going on hiking adventures and the nights relaxing. Saturday we'll snowshoe (or hike, depending on snow levels) 7 - 10 miles to Snow Lake, near Alpental. Elevation starts at 3100 ft. Sunday we'll do a 3.5 mile hike to Source Lake before heading home. Come enjoy the beauty that Washington has to offer with some new friends! No snowshoeing experience necessary.

Mother Daughter Weekend: Cross Country Skiing and Spa Retreat

Location: Bonneville Hot Springs Resort and Spa, Mt Hood Ski Bowl

Dates: May 9 - 11th, 2008

Course Description:

Celebrate your mother! Bring her on this trip for some fun and relaxation - you both deserve to be pampered. Friday night we'll check into the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort and Spa to relax before a vigorous day of cross country skiing at Mt Hood Ski Bowl. Saturday night and Sunday we'll warm up in the hot springs and enjoy the spa services. What a wonderful way to spend Mother's day weekend!

Fitness Levels:

We offer outdoor trips for women of all experience levels who share the love of the outdoors. If you have an idea of a trip that we do not currently offer, feel free to email us at womenwhowander@gmail.com. Each trip we offer will have a fitness rating. These ratings are subjective and represent general parameters.

Active:

Good physical condition, able to carry 35 lbs, able to do low aerobic activity.

Moderate:

Good physical condition, able to carry 40lbs, able to do moderate aerobic activity for one hour at a time and short spurts of difficulty.

Strenuous:

Great physical condition, able to carry 40lbs, able to sustain over longer periods of difficult aerobic activity, adventurous attitude.
